Who pays the Agents' commission?
When a home is placed on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), there is typically a co-op commission being offered by the seller to the brokerage that is listing the home. Essentially, funds from the purchase of the home are used to pay the agents involved in the transaction. If a listing agent and buyer agent are involved, the funds are split between the two agents per the listing agreement that is between the Listing Broker and the Seller.  If a Buyer Agent is not involved, the Listing Broker has the ability to keep all of the commission being offered.
